Who Is Joseph Chapman From Modesto? Jury Delivered Verdict In Murder And Assault Of A Mother
Joseph Chapman is the accused and proven murderer of homeless woman Christina Hill from Modesto.
Criminalists from the Department of Justice testified that Chapman’s DNA was found in Hill’s body as well as under her fingernails. It was brought up that Chapman’s shirt was found soaked in Hill’s blood.
Deputy District Attorney Erin Schwartz presented video evidence during the trial that showed Chapman following Hill as she left the Quick Stop store on La Loma Avenue around 12:50 a.m. The video showed him emerging from the crime scene two and a half hours later.
Chapman is scheduled to be sentenced on May 26.

Who Is Joseph Chapman From Modesto?
After being arrested on May 17, 2019, for the murder of Christina Hill, Joseph Chapman from Modesto was found guilty of murder on April 25th, 2022.
Joseph was accused of dragging a homeless woman behind a business, sexually assaulting her, and then strangling and beating her to death.
The 47-year-old homeless woman Christina Hill was found brutalized in a driveway on 18th Street behind businesses on G Street on May 13, 2019.
It was only five days later that police apprehended Joseph Chapman after an anonymous tip.

Sentence Of Joseph Chapman – What Was The Verdict?
Following a three-week trial and approximately six hours of deliberation, the jury found Joseph Chapman guilty of murder after acknowledging the pieces of evidence that he committed the crime while engaging in sodomy and attempted rape.
He is eligible for a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Chapman was released from jail on bail less than three weeks before the murder on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence in connection with an incident in which he allegedly used a car to assault one of his stepchildren.

Insight On Victim Christina Hill
Christina Hill was a 5’2”, 97 pounds 47-year-old homeless woman born at a community hospital in Gustine in 1971. She was born with a genetic disorder that affected her muscles.
Because of the muscular disorder, she couldn’t hold her head up until she was a year old. It was only when she was three that she took her first steps.
Hill eventually got married and had two children. However, her husband was a drug addict who went to prison, and Hill eventually began using drugs as well. She lost custody of both her children, ages 10 and 18, at the time of her death.
