Lange and Stevie Vann were classmates in Northern Rhodesia. A few years later, when attending Belfast High School in South Africa, the two reconnected.
They joined together to form the brief-lived band Hocus; they later got married and immigrated to the UK in the 1970s. In 1978, the couple divorced.
