Rochelle Walensky graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in biochemistry and molecular biology in 1991.
She earned her M.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1995. She completed her internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1995 to 1998.

Rochelle Walensky is happily married to Loren D. Walensky, who is a physician-scientist. He has been a pediatric oncologist at Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and a professor of pediatrics at Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center since 2003.
Loren is interested in peptides as well as carcinogenic processes. In 2013, he was named head of Harvard Medical School’s combined MD/Ph.D. program.

Both the couple have three children, consisting of three sons, aged 16, 19, and 21.
