Officers discovered Christine Lee Silawa dead in a vacant lot in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, in March 2019 with half of her face skinned to the skull and several stab wounds.
She was also raped and completely naked from the waist down.
Using a fake Facebook account, a 16-year-old high school student and church collector was tricked into meeting her mystery boyfriend.
According to investigators, the suspect claimed to be someone else on Facebook in order to “court” her.
According to an autopsy, her tongue, trachea, esophagus, parts of her neck, and right ear were all missing.

Was Christine Lee Silawan Killer Released
Christine Lee Silawan was walking to church in the Philippines when she was last seen with three men at 4 p.m. on March 10, 2019.
Investigators suspect the attackers were either intoxicated on drugs or performed a horrific ritual in which the girl’s face was removed.
On March 16, 2019, John was identified as a murder suspect and arrested at his home in Lupu-Lupu City’s Barangay Maribago.

The arrest was made as a result of a Facebook discussion. Silawan had split up with John a few days before her murder, according to authorities, and jealousy is being explored as a possible motive.
Renato Llenes, the accused murder suspect, was arrested on April 9 and confessed to killing her in an “extrajudicial confession.” He did, however, plead “not guilty” to the murder charges.
Llenes said that his crime was inspired by the Momo Challenge, which was popular at the time. Llenes committed suicide by hanging on May 24, 2020, according to reports.
The murder has sparked debate and political debate about whether the death penalty should be reinstated as a punishment for grave acts.

On April 2, 2019, a forensic team from the Public Attorney’s Office confirmed that Silawan had been raped.
The investigators detected blood in her genitals, as well as evidence that acid was poured on Silawan’s face before being pulled off.
Silawan was strangled to death with a rope, and the forensic team thought that at least three persons were involved in his death.
