Three persons have been detained, one of whom authorities think was the gunman in relation to the shooting of Lil Tjay. According to police, a robbery attempt allegedly targeted the musician.
The “In My Head” rapper was shot early on Wednesday morning, according to the Edgewater, New Jersey Police Department, after Konate allegedly tried to rob him and two other guys he was with.
Mohamed Konate, 27, has been detained and is being held as the main suspect in Tjay’s shooting, according to a statement issued by the Bergen County, New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday evening (June 22).

Antoine Boyd, a Peekskill resident, is the friend of Lil Tjay who was reported with him at The Promenade, an upscale shopping center in Edgewater, during the shooting incident.
Lil Tjay, real name Tione Jayden Merritt, was allegedly shot multiple times on June 22 just after midnight at the Promenade, a mixed-use building in Edgewater, New Jersey.
He was arrested along with his friend Jeffery Valdez after police say they were each charged with possession of an unlawful weapon.

Three counts of attempted murder, three counts of armed robbery, and several more charges involving illegal firearms have been brought against Konate.

The real name of Antoine Boyd has not been disclosed yet. He has been arrested and charged with possession of unlawful possession of a weapon.

Tjay and his two accomplices, Jeffery Valdez and Antoine Boyd, were said to be at Edgewater, New Jersey’s The Promenade at the time of the shooting.
Rapper Lil Tjay Injuries: What Happened?
Although some media reports claimed Lil Tjay, who was born in the Bronx, underwent surgery as a result of the event, officials would not confirm the condition of those hurt.
According to a report from northjersey.com, police said that while one victim got hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, the other victim’s health is now “stable” after being rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
Konate’s extradition to New Jersey is currently pending after he was detained by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New York City Police Department.
