As reported by the Jan. 6 Committee, Edwards was the first law enforcement officer harmed by rioters who assailed the Capitol, leaving her with a brain injury.

Despite being injured, she carried on to patrol the Capitol and stopped more rioters from entering the building. Edwards has already stated what happened to her that day, including in court documents filed in the case of one of the Jan. 6 rioters who purportedly attacked her.
