Borje Salming Has Four Children And Two Stepdaughters With Three Wives

Borje Salming has four children and two stepdaughters with three wives. And the ice hockey legend has been able to keep up with all his children. 

And in the matter of love, the third time was the charm for the former NHL who tied the knot with Pia Salming in 2015. Prior to that, he was in a relationship with Margitta Salming and Katarina Pettersson.

Salming was in his early 20s when he exchanged vows with his first wife, Margitta. The pair arrived in Toronto after the Toronto Maple Leaf drafted Borje.

Margitta Salming worked as a children’s clothes designer, and the two were married for 20 years before going their separate ways in 1992. The pair parented two children, Anders and Teresa.

In the mid-90s Borje met Katarina Petterson, a lifestyle coach and nutrition advisor. The relationship didn’t last long, and they divorced in the early 2000s but not before parenting two children, Rasmus and Bianca.

Borje met his third and current wife, Pia Salming, in 2005. The former hairdresser already had two kids from her previous marriage, whom she brought into the Salming family after marrying Borje in 2016.

And unlike many other famous personalities who tend to have a large but disruptive family, Borje Salming has maintained a good relationship with his former partners.

The hockey legend has received tons of support from the hockey community and his former wives on his ongoing battle with ALS. The disease has progressed to the point that he can no longer speak. 

Borje Salming and his first wife, Margitta Salming, share two children, Anders and Teresa Salming. The couple divorced in 1992 after being together for 20 years. 

Margitta has chosen to stay away from the limelight after her divorce from the famous Sweden but has never stood in between the relationship of the children and their father.

1. Anders Salming 

Anders Salming, the first child of the hockey legend Borje Salming, was born in 1974. Many father-son duos have graced the NHL, and if you think we are about to say that Salmings are one of them, then you’re incorrect.

Anders Salming is a graphic designer, and though he does play hockey, it’s only for fun. The oldest Salming child has appeared a few times on the red carpet with his father but overall loves to stay away from the limelight.

The 48-year-old lives in Vaxholm outside Stockholm and is married to his wife, Jenny. 

2. Teresa Salming 

The firstborn daughter of Borje Salming, Teresa Salming, is 46 years old. Teresa works as an office manager at Första AP-fonden in Stockholm and is married to her husband, Tord.

And during this tumultuous time that her father is going through, Teresa has stuck by his side. Teresa traveled to Canada with her father in October to see an ALS doctor. 

Teresa even spoke to some tabloids earlier this year, showing great concern towards her father’s health. 

Borje Salming and his second wife Katarina Petterson parented two children, Rasmus and Bianca.

And his second daughter, Bianca Salming, is the one that has carried on the sporting legacy in the family.

1. Rasmus Salming

Rasmus Samling, age 27, is the first child of Borje and his second former wife, Katarina. Rasmus like his older step-brother chose not to follow in his father’s footsteps but has previously played hockey for division four team IX Waxholm.

Rasmus is frequently seen on his mother’s Instagram handle and was seen on the red carpet of the movie Pleasure with his father. Rasmus spent most of his childhood with his mother and small sister in Stockholm.

2. Bianca Salming 

Bianca Samling, age 23, is the most outgoing among his four kids. She is also the child who has continued her father’s legacy in sports, as she is a famous name in track and field and has won SM Gold.

In early 2021, Bianca appeared in the show Skavlan with her father and gave insights about what the ice hockey legend is like as a father. Bianca said she gets irritated sometimes seeing her father care too much about her.

Borje shared two stepdaughters from his third wife Pia Salming.

Pia Salming is a former hairdresser turned police officer. Like her husband, Pia was married before and had two children from her previous marriage.

Lisa and Sara are two daughters Pia Samling brought with her after her marriage to Borje in 2016. The pair crossed paths for the first time in 2005 on a cruise trip, and the two quickly hit off.

At the time, Pia worked as a hairdresser but decided to change her career path. Many would not do that during their late 40s, but a woman could dare to dream.

Her two daughters, Lia and Sarah, have supported their mother’s new direction in her career path. And not only were they supportive of their mother’s career but also her marriage with Borje.

The two sisters were bridesmaids at their mother’s wedding to Borje in 2016 and have been frequently seen with Borje and their mother in public events.
