Daniel Alfredsson Brother Henric Alfredsson Left Hockey For Ottawa Police Service

Daniel Alfredsson, his brother Henric Alfredsson, and his sister Cecilia Sabel were born to Hasse and Margareta Alfredsson.

Daniel and Henric began playing ice hockey at a young age; however, the younger pursued a different profession while growing up; he joined the Ottawa Police Service and became an entrepreneur. 

Furthermore, the brothers share seven years of age difference; the former ice hockey player (49 years old) was born on the 11th of December 1972, whereas the entrepreneur (43 years old) was born on the 1st of April 1979.

Moreover, the former athlete, who spent 18 seasons in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings, became the first Senators player in the club’s modern history to get inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022.

Daniel Alfredsson’s brother Henric Alfredsson was an ice hockey player before he joined the Ottawa Police Service.

Henric played for the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s during their 1999 Memorial Cup-winning season when he was 19. Likewise, he also played nine elite series matches, including playoffs, for Västra Frölunda HC in the 1997-98 season.

However, he didn’t pursue a professional career like his older brother; instead, the former athlete became a police officer at Ottawa Police Service. The police officer got assigned as a Special Constable to the Court Security and Temporary Custody Section on the 9th of February 2009. 

Moreover, the younger Alfredsson is also an entrepreneur from CanSwede Custom Homes and has a family; he married his wife Jillian, and they have a beautiful daughter named Khloe.

Daniel Alfredsson Sister Cecilia Sabel Had Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Henric Alfredsson is not the only sibling of the former pro ice hockey player; he also has a sister named Cecilia Sabel.

Daniel shared that Cecilia suffered from a generalized anxiety disorder in 2008, but no updates on her condition are available.

Sabel had suffered from the disorder since 2000; when her brother shared the news about her condition with the media, she was pregnant with her second child. 

Daniel had a hard time watching her suffer in pain, so he spoke up and raised awareness about mental illness. Furthermore, he also shared that her sister received help and support from the family and was also on medication and other medical treatment.

Moreover, the former athlete became the face of a campaign to end the stigma associated with mental illness; he helped the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health start the “You know who I am” campaign to show his love for his sister.

Daniel is a married man who shares four children with his wife, Birgitta ‘Bibi’ Alfredsson.

The former ice hockey player walked down the aisle with the love of his life in 2004, and the 31st of July marked their 18th wedding anniversary.

Bibi is from Sweden, and she left her home in the fall of 1995, expecting to return in some time, but little did she know she would settle in Ottawa with her future husband.

Daniel and Birgitta are long-time lovers, and she came to Ottawa to support her then-boyfriend, who got drafted by the Senators the previous year. Neither thought the former athlete would have a successful career for an extended period.

Furthermore, the pair has stood firm since Alfredsson played for the Swedish Elite League to the date and has many more to go. They have been through ups and downs but have remained consistent and never given up on each other.

Daniel And Bibi Have Four Kids 

Bibi has blessed her husband with four sons: Fenix Alfredsson, Hugo Alfredsson, William Alfredsson, and Loui Alfredsson.

Daniel’s children have followed in his footsteps; his sons also play ice hockey. The 16-year-old son Loui, born on the 21st of June 2006, served as Ottawa Sting’s captain when his father served as its head coach.
