Sara McManus parents Stuart McManus and Anna Carin McManus raised two children in Gavleborg County in Sweden.

The 30-year-old Swedish curler, two times European champion, is not the only child in her family. She also has a sister named Jonna McManus. Stuart and Anna raised them in a positive and progressive environment in Gavle.

Her father, Stuart, and mother, Anna, met when Stuart played football in the Swedish league. He started as a forward but later ended up being a goalkeeper. In Sweden, he met Sara’s mom Anna Carin, and they began dating.

Soon after, the pair fell in love and decided to marry. Stuart never returned to Scotland and settled in Gavle, Sweden, with his beloved wife, Anna.

Sara’s father played for Southampton from 1983 to 1986, then moved to Sweden and joined Örgryte. So he came to east Scandanavian country in 1986 and played for different football teams.

The native of Gavle, Gavleborg County, Sweden, Anna previously worked at Trainor Sverige as a salesperson, where she worked for more than seven years. She joined a digital EdTech company in August 2015 and left the job in September 2022.

Anna has worked as a salesperson and education informant since she entered EGA – Kurser Nära Dig in September. Her main task is to provide reports, help with bookings of EGA’s business premises, and aid in the education sector around the country.

In August 2016, Sara’s mother posted on her Facebook wall that she had left a job at Brandposten AB. Anna Carin worked there for more than six years. She was the owner and CEO of Brandposten Norden AB, a product communication firm based in the Gavle area, Sweden.

She was aligned with the company’s goal to affordably safeguard material values while reducing operational disruptions and clean-up expenses in the case of fire and electrical hazards. Anna was part of Brandposten AB for almost seven years, from 2009 to 2016. 

Prior to working at Brandposten AB, Anna worked as a junior salesperson at Forever Free for a year in 2006. She attended Vasaskolan, a private social school, in 1980 and enrolled at NLP-Institutet Villa Harmoni ABNLP-Institutet Villa Harmoni AB, where she mastered Certifierad NLP-Coach and Practitioner.

Moving away from her professional life, Sara’s mother is an avid dog lover. Both her Facebook and Instagram accounts are filled with pictures of her pet dog Collin.

Sara’s father Stuart McManus is a former Scottish football player who played for Southampton as a forward. 

During his prime, Stuart was a lethal striker playing in the top level of English football with Southampton. He joined the Saints in 1983 and stayed for three seasons till 1986 before exploring his option in other nation’s leagues.

Since Sara’s father was an athlete, it was very simple for her to get engaged in sports and seek a career in them. Additionally, she inherited her dad Stuart’s athletic genes.

Stuart McManus, a native of Falkirk, Scotland, moved to England with her family when he was just a child. Growing up in London, football is deep-rooted in him, and he started playing when he was barely ten years old.

Sara’s dad signed for Southampton on a non-contract arrangement in August 1983 while enrolled at Farnham for a PE Diploma program.

He scored in his debut game after making his first appearance on August 27, 1983. During his three years at The Dell, Stuart made 71 appearances for the reserve team and netted 28 goals.

The 57-year-old former player moved to Sweden after signing for Örgryte in 1986. He played for several clubs on Swedish soil, Sandviken, Gefle, Ljusne, and more. Presently, Stuart works at Gävle kommun, where her younger daughter Jonna works.
