Although he had every intention of marrying Cristal Taylor, it did not end up happening. It was believed that the former German basketball star was engaged to Taylor, and the two of them were supposedly getting married in July of 2009.
However, Taylor was taken into custody on May 6, 2009, two months before their planned wedding, at the Dallas residence of Nowitzki on an allegation of theft of services concerning dental treatment that stemmed from an incident in Jefferson County in 2006.
In a case involving fraud and theft that dates back 12 years, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Cristal Taylor testified in court that she had forgotten to check in with her probation officer. She also admitted that in 2000, she was jailed for two separate misdemeanors in Texas.
The court sentenced Taylor to five years in prison in August 2009. When Taylor was detained, she claimed she was pregnant, but the records from the jail contradicted her statements. The news shattered Dirk, and he said it nearly made him lose the drive to look for love again.

However, many believe his first wife to be his ex-lover Cristal Taylor. Sirk dated Taylor a few years after his relationship with Sybille Gerer, a female basketball player, ended.
The former NBA star began seeing Gerer in 1992, and they were together for ten years before they parted ways in 2002 due to their differences. A couple of years later, Nowitzki started dating Cristal Taylor. They met over a phone call.
They eventually got together after being friends for a long time, and the initial encounter went well. But in May, she was detained from Nowitzki on a probation breach and heist of services warrants. Taylor was charged for failing to pay a dentist in Beaumont for treatment that was performed in 2004 and had a value ranging from $1,500 to $20,000.

If Dirk Nowitzki had wed his convicted ex-fiance, he might be living a very different life right now.
Things might have turned out quite differently for him if his now-ex-fiancee Taylor, whom he had planned to marry in July 2009, had not been jailed and the couple had gone through with their wedding.
However, fortunately for Dirk, this did not occur, and he was able to find the love of his life in Jessica Olsson. The couple was married in 2012 and now Jessica is the mama of his three babies.
After the detention, Taylor boldly claimed she was pregnant with Dirk’s child. “I still want to have a family,” Dirk said. But the prison records have no insight into her being impregnated.
Although the sentence was for five years, Taylor was out of prison by January 2010. She now lives in Missouri. “She’s just getting on with her life, with her family,” her attorney Matthew Fry said.
A year was taken off of her sentence since she had already completed her probation, and the court also gave her credit for the more than one hundred days she spent in Texas and Missouri correctional institutions after her arrest on May 6 at Nowitzki’s Preston Hollow residence.
According to Matthew, a hearing about Taylor’s probation in January resulted in the dismissal of all charges pending in Missouri, and she was therefore freed.

Dirk Nowitzki’s wife, Jessica Olsson, is the daughter of a Kenyan mother and a Swedish father.
Moreover, Olsson is the sister of twin Swedish football players Martin Olsson and Marcus Olsson. Dirk and Jessica met in 2010 at a charity event and married in 2012.

On the other hand, his ex-fiance, Cristal Taylor, is not in prison now and living in Missouri, as her lawyer Matthew Fry said.
