Hendon Hooker was raised by parents, Alan and Wendy Hooker, in Greensboro, North Carolina, with his brother Alston Hooker.
The 24-year-old football star is not the first member of his family to make a name for themselves in American football. His father, Alan, and brother Alston are well-known athletes in this sport.
Hooker was a basketball player during middle school when he realized it was not his game, and there was a clear shot at the hoop waiting for him. This was almost ten years before he became the quarterback for the Tennessee Volunteers.
He changed his focus from basketball to football, as his father had done, and followed in his footsteps. After learning that Hendon was interested in playing football, he was overjoyed that his footballing heritage would be passed on to the family.
On November 16, Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon made the shortlist of 20 football players for the sixth annual Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award.

His mother, Wendy, runs a design company Alabaster Design, and his father, Alan, was a footballer.
Both his father and mother are delighted by his ecstatic career. Especially his dad Alan, a football player in his time, could not contain his joy when Hendon was selected as one of the 20 semifinalists for this year’s Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year.
After meeting each other at A&T state university, his parents, Alan and Wendy, became a couple and married a few years later. They have been together for more than 32 years. Both individuals were students at the Evangel Fellowship in Greensboro, which was once directed by the late Bishop Dr. Otis Lockett Sr.
Alan, Hendon’s father, was a football player in the past and played for the Aggies of North Carolina A&T University. He was inducted into the Aggies’ hall of fame in 1998. Hendon has not yet accomplished what his father achieved, but he is heading in the right direction.
At age four, Hendon joined the local YMCA and started playing football there. According to him, his father is his primary source of motivation since his father gave him his first opportunity when he was young and instilled in him the importance of dedication and perseverance.
His mother, Wendy, is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Since she began working at Alabaster Design twelve years ago, she has been in charge of billing at Wescare Professional Services, a firm that specializes in mental health.
The UT QB spoke well of his mother, describing her as a kind and caring person who encouraged him to pursue his dream of being a quarterback. She, in turn, praised him for being an enthusiastic and robust young man who put in a lot of effort to accomplish his goals.
His parents visited him when he fell ill due to Covid 19 two years ago. They stayed by his side and helped him to recover. “I remember my parents visiting me in my apartment during that fall camp,” Hendon said. “I was crying my eyes out.”
Hendon Hooker Father Alan Hooker Is A Former Quarterback
Hendon Hooker and his father, Alan Hooker, are both quarterbacks. His father played for North Carolina A&T State in a quarterback position.
He was inducted into the 1998 Hall of Fame by the University as an honor for his contributions. Both he and his younger brother Alston get inspired by him now plays as a quarterback in their respective clubs.
In addition, owing to the obligations of his job, Alan is now residing in Houston away from his family. Within the Houston Independent School District, he accepted the position of leadership development officer.
His job in Houston forced him to relocate away from his family. But despite Alan’s absence, the family has not become less close since they continue to get together regularly.
Even though Alan is far off from his kid, they remain in frequent touch with one another. The former quarterback would analyze videos and share his experience and insight with his team over the phone.
Alan, the son of a late football player, Edward Leon Hooker, is not the first in the family to play football. His father, Hendon’s Grandfather Leon, was the pioneer who introduced football to the Hooker family.
Leon was very committed to the sport and often said Hendon would be a better football player than Alan. And to his father’s wish, Alan always supported Hendon in playing football from an early age.
“I was stunned, but I kept my arms folded because I didn’t want him to know how excited I was,” Alan said when Hendon decided to choose football over a basketball career.

Hendon Hooker was born into a family of athletes. His parents are blessed with two quarterbacks, him and his brother Alston.
His parents, Alan and Wendy, urged their two sons to begin their sports careers at a young age so that they could develop both their bodies and their minds. Hendon is three years older than Alston.
The history of including belief and family in football has resulted in benefits for all family members. Both sons of Alan and Wendy play the quarterback position in football. Hendon plays for the Tennessee Volunteers, while his brother Alston is a team member of North Carolina A&T State University.
“Alston has done some things better than Hendon.” his father Alan spoke. Despite their differences in the style of play, the two brothers have healthy competition and help each other with their game knowledge.
Hendon said he is elated to have a brother with the same mentality. “He’s always looked up to me. And he’s always been my best friend since the day he was born, so just being with him every day is great.” The two Hooker brothers wrote a book named “The ABCs of Scripture for Athletes.”
In addition, his brother Alston has the same point of view. Because he is the youngest child in the family, his mother and father have always tried to relieve the pressure on him, along with his older brother Hendon.
Despite the similarity, the youngest Hooker knows that the family leverage would not just be given to him on a silver platter. He wants to prove his doubters wrong, who believe that the only reason he is on the university squad is because of his brother and father.
Hendon Hooker Grew Up In A Family Of Five
Hendon Hooker grew up in a tight-knit family of five, consisting of his father, mother, brother, and sister.
They have a common Christian faith, a strong affection for one another, and a profound commitment to football, which serve as the pillars around which their family is built.
One thing that every male member in the family has in common is that they all played quarterback in high school and college and were excellent at both levels starting from Hendon’s grandfather Edward Leon Hooker.

Hendon is the middle child of his parents, as his older sister Nile was the firstborn of three. Nile was born in the year 1992 making him 30 years of age this year.
She attended North Carolina A&T University and earned a degree in journalism and mass communications in 2018. She currently serves as a client service manager for The Familie, a worldwide sports and entertainment agency with its headquarters in Los Angeles.
