However, she rejected the offer to attend Belmont and pursue her dream to teach and coach basketball. After graduating from Belmont in 1965, she was named an Associate Professor of Health and Physical Education in 1966.
After that, she started a teaching career that has spanned over 38 years. Her summer basketball camps for girls, also founded in 1968, were filled with girls from across the state.
