Aeneas and Julie Hernlen were shot early Monday by David Edward Johnson, 33, who later committed suicide at home. The couple’s 5-year-old daughter tracked down her parents and dialed 911.
He mistakenly believed a couple had turned him in for drug possession broke into their house and shot them to death, then killed himself, police said.
Johnson believed the Hernlens had reported him to police in November for growing marijuana and carrying steroids, according to authorities. The pair, who were once friends with Johnson, was claimed to have had nothing to do with his arrest, according to investigators.

David Edward Johnson is dead and not in jail; he shot himself in the head at his Swan Drive house following the shootings of the couple who he believed had put him in jail for marijuana possession.
Johnson allegedly shot the Hernlens because he believed they had turned him into law authorities after he was arrested and charged with cultivating marijuana and possessing steroids, according to investigators.

According to the deputies, the Helens had nothing to do with Johnson’s arrest.
A judge refused the couple’s request for an injunction against Johnson in January. Johnson was allegedly haunting the couple, driving by their home and making threats, according to the couple.

5 Years Old Called 911 After Hearing Gunshot
After calling 911 and telling the dispatcher that her parents had been shot by an attacker, a small toddler was rescued from her home by Florida deputies early Monday morning.
The daughter reported on the 911 call that blood was flowing out of her father’s lips and that he had fallen off the bed. The young lady informed the operator of her age and the fact that she owned a dog named Liza.

The dispatcher spoke to her calmly while dispatching officers to her residence. When they arrived, Julie Hernlen, 31, had died, and her father, Aeneas Hernlen, 29, had been transported to the hospital and died the next day.
The dispatcher, who is also a mother, was lauded by the sheriff for maintaining focus while listening to a child in a perilous scenario. The dispatcher kept the child on the phone until the cops arrived at her house, and she can be heard on the tape asking her questions.
