Eventually, he was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 2009 MLB draft and has been an active player in the league since then. As of now, he has played for three different teams and is considered one of the famous faces of MLB.

On the other hand, Kirk was born on May 28, 1957, in Pontiac, Michigan as the son of Bob and Barbara Gibson. Kirk attended Kettering High School in the suburb of Waterford, where his father taught math after working as an auditor for the state of Michigan. He had several exceptional performances, and as a senior in the fall of 1974, he was selected All Oakland County. Since he wasn’t much recruited, he seized the opportunity when Michigan State University offered him a football scholarship. He was even inducted into the college football hall of fame in January 2017 for his exceptional performance during his early days.

However, he used to play baseball much better than football, so his coach Darryl Rogers suggested that Gibson should play collegiate baseball. He only played college baseball for one season, but he still managed to hit.390 with 16 home runs and 52 RBIs in 48 games. In the 1979 MLB Draft, the Detroit Tigers selected him. He played in the league for 16 years and is still regarded as one of the best players in Major League Baseball.
