Ohio: Jalon Walker Akron Shooting Video Cam, Why Was Black Man Shot To Dead?

Jalon Walker, a 25-year-old Black motorist, was shot by eight police officers after making his first attempt to flee. On Sunday, Ohio police revealed graphic video cam footage and further information about the incident.

According to a statement from the department, Akron police officers said they attempted to stop Walker last week for an unidentified traffic infraction and had to chase him when he refused to stop.

During their pursuit early on Monday morning, police said they “reported a handgun being discharged from the suspect car.” Following that, Walker allegedly leaped out of his car, prompting cops to pursue him on foot.

According to the department’s version, after failing to use stun guns to stop Walker, the officers fired their weapons. Walker had been struck numerous times, according to NBC station WKYC, who cited autopsy images and interviews with police sources.

What Happened To The Police Officers Involved In The Incident?

Steve Mylett, chief of the Akron Police Department, was unaware of the equipment or traffic violation that was being reported in an attempt to pull Jason Walker.

As per standard procedure after a police shooting, eight officers were placed on paid administrative leave, according to Mylett. The investigation into police use of force will be overseen by the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

According to Mylett, officers present at the scene independently saw Walker turn in what they believed to be a firing posture.
