Twin brothers Matthew and Isaac Auchterlonie, both 22 years old, have been identified as the two armed bank robbers, who were killed by police in a gunfight on Tuesday by RCMP officers in Saanich, British Columbia.
In the shooting that occurred late on Tuesday morning at the Bank of Montreal in Saanich, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, six police officers were injured.
Additionally, according to police, explosives found in a vehicle driven by the suspects on Thursday had to be destroyed.
The investigation is being handled by the VIIMCU (Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit). The Independent Investigations Office is also looking into the incident.

The 22-year-old twin brothers Mathew and Isaac Auchterlonie, from central Vancouver Island, were identified as suspects in the botched robbery of a Bank of Montreal branch earlier this week in Saanich, British Columbia, a suburb of Victoria, on Saturday.
Tuesday’s gunfire with the police in front of the bank resulted in the deaths of both young men. Six officers were shot, and three of them are still hospitalized, including one who is in intensive care and another who will need additional surgeries.

Cpl. Alex Bérubé said at a news conference on Saturday that “there are still many questions and investigation activities that need to be conducted in order to completely understand what took place and why.”
It has not yet been confirmed why there was an armed robbery and subsequent gunfire with the police.
Mathew And Isaac Auchterlonie’s Duncan BC Family
The 22-year-old brothers Matthew and Isaac Auchterlonie were from Duncan, 60 kilometers northwest of Victoria. The brothers had no prior criminal histories and were unknown to authorities, according to the RCMP.
Police, according to Bérubé, had a conversation with the suspect’s family, who were aiding the investigation. Police said they are still looking for information about the suspects’ 1992 Toyota Camry with two black racing stripes covering the hood and roof.

An ex-classmate who attended Frances Kelsey Secondary School in Mill Bay claimed that the brothers went there and urged Postmedia to keep her identity a secret.
During high school hours, “Isaac and his brother largely stayed to themselves,” according to the former classmate. They always appeared to hang out exclusively with one another.
Meet The Twins On Instagram And Facebook
One of the twins, Isaac Auchterlonie, was active on Instagram. However, the account has been deleted. They are not very active on Facebook.
Isaac Auchterlonie’s Instagram account, which is since deleted, included a number of posts with anti-government hashtags. He believed gun ownership was a necessary response to government “tyranny.”
