Milton Public Schools Superintendent James Jette Charges After Arrested In May, Where Is He Now?

James Jette is the superintendent of Milton Public Schools. He was appointed to the position by the Milton School committee in 2021. However, the educator is now on the verge of losing his job. 

According to legal reports, James Jette was arrested back in May.

James’s partner (whose name remains anonymous) filed a legal case against the educator. She alleged that Jette physically assaulted her over an argument.

The case hearing took place in the Stoughton District Court on May 27. Despite the serious allegations, James did not plead guilty to the charges and was released without posting bail.

Jette has been associated with the Milton Public Schools for the past 22 years. In those years, he has served in different positions, including guidance counselor, assistant principal, Pierce Middle School principal, and Milton High School principal.

James Jette faced a misdemeanor domestic assault charge following his partner’s allegations that Jette became physically violent towards her. 

The legal filings cite that the argument broke out due to a broken plant pot. The superintendent reportedly couldn’t keep calm and allegedly put his hands around his partner’s neck and shoved her into the wall.

Jette’s court case was based on one count of assault and battery on a family or household member. The judge did not find him guilty and released him on personal recognizance. 

Meanwhile, neither James nor his lawyer has not responded to the situation yet. 

This is not the first legal issue James is dealing with. Back in 2018, police searched Jette’s house after his daughter was linked to a pal with a drug possession case.  

However, neither James nor his daughter was associated with the case. Similarly, the Milton School Committee members fully supported the superintendent.

In a public statement, the committee said, “The Milton School Committee wants to state that James Jette has our full support, and we are deeply troubled that anyone would seek to discredit him personally or professionally in this cowardly way,

After the legal case, there is no information on James Jette’s whereabouts as of now.

Since Jette did not plead guilty to the charge, it is highly unlikely that he might face trouble with his job. Nonetheless, we don’t know what the committee will decide.

Jette graduated from the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in the 1980s. As a high schooler, he even played basketball for the Cape & Island League champion basketball team.

He eventually graduated college and pursued a career in public school administration. Similarly, he is also serving as the top administrator for Milton.

We don’t know what this legal case will mean for his career. The committee has not released a statement on this incident.
