Jonathan Taylor parents Elizabeth Taylor and Jonathan James were never married and lived separately.

But they never made this an issue while raising their son Jonathan. They both had a similar level of commitment to him and had only ever wanted the best for him. His father, Jonathan James, was married to another lady.

Elizabeth and James were mindful that their kid would also suffer a similar fate to all other kids who grow up in the neighborhood with a single parent. They did not want Jonathan to be among those, so they both vowed to raise him together for a better future.

Despite not living together, Elizabeth and James were pivotal in his development and equally invested in Jonathan. Taylor lived with Elizabeth along with his other siblings.

Since the NFL star was fascinated by astrophysics and celestial objects, his parents bought him a massive telescope on his birthday. He recalls spending so much time gazing at the sky and being lost. 

After doing his assignments, he typically spent hours staring through the telescope, attempting to make sense of it all. However, his interest never truly subsided.

Taylor stumbled into the football world because of his cousin Amani Justice. Amani asked him to join as well. Jonathan returned home and approached his mom about joining. After understanding his interest and passion, Elizabeth could not deny him.

Elizabeth had to work extra shifts to support the family. She cared for Jonathan and her other four children and provided for them by working nighttime shifts. She worked in the hospital from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. and would return home early morning.

Out of her and James, she is the strict one, but Taylor understood her reasons for being so. Since Elizabeth was raised in a Christian home, she always adhered to the prescribed norms and wanted Taylor to do the same.

“Sometimes I ask God: was I too strict with Jonathan?” She said.

Elizabeth’s rules for Taylor were to refrain from lying, using foul language, and cheating. Attend class, finish assignments, and expand thinking. Every Sunday, visit a church to grow spiritually.

More times than he can recall, Jonathan’s mother warned him against doing those things. Every time he breaks a rule, Elizabeth asked his coach to remove him from the team as punishment. Jonathan’s father lost count of how many times he had to beg the coach not to kick his kid off the squad.

He later persuaded her to take away his Xbox as a punishment instead of football.

Being in a sports field for an extended period, James knew what it took to be a professional athlete, and he was aware his boy Jonathan had that ability in every ounce of his blood.

James was not strict with him as Elizabeth, and every time Jonathan made a mistake, he would save him from her. He ultimately devised a new strategy to keep Jonathan playing football after he realized his son was an exceptional athlete.

He took away his Xbox so that Jonathan would only focus on playing in the field rather than at home, sitting on a couch with a joystick. The plan worked. Jonathan was mad at first, which was understandable, but in time he developed a strong desire to play football and became too attached to it.

And since then, his mom and dad have been crucial to his professional life, as he goes to them every time he needs a decision about his career. James inspired him to be an athlete, and now he plays in one of the most prestigious football leagues in the world.

One time, Jonathan was in a dilemma in choosing between Havard University and the University of Wisconsin for college. His papa James surveyed both universities and presented the pros and cons of each to Jonathan, who then picked Wisconsin. 

While Harvard would further his interest in astrophysics, Wisconsin had more to offer for him in terms of his playing career.
