The Denison teacher was taken to a hospital where they pronounced her dead. She had suffered blunt force trauma to her head and the injuries were brutal.. She probably died on the accident spot.
A neighbour to the Palmers, Cory Foster was driving the truck. He reportedly has a long history of citations and arrests from driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, reckless driving, and much more.

Is Cory Foster In Jail? Justice For Katie Palmer
Cory Foster is not in jail as he was never charged.
Acoording to several reports, the driver was approached by a trooper after the accident. The troper reportedly noticed a smell out of his breath and performed a sobriety test. Foster passed the test easily.
Moreover, the case was handled by a state trooper, Tarif Alkhatib. It was passed on to the Grayson County DA, Brett Smith. Four months after the accident, the grand jury decided not to indict Foster. He wasn’t charged for anything and walked free.
