In a 2019 tweet, Katyal clarified he is not a Catholic but has a deep respect for the religion. He wrote, “I’m not Catholic but attended a Jesuit high school and teach at one (Georgetown) now. It has many profound nondenominational values”.
Likewise, Neal has never mentioned following the Jewish faith as well. As a fact, he doesn’t seem open about his religious values.

Neal’s family immigrated to the United States from India. His surname “Katyal” is common among Sikh religious people in India. In fact, his late father was half-Sikh.

Neal Katyal is married to his wife Joanna Rosen. Joanna is a doctor by profession – precisely a physician.
Born to Estelle and Sidney Rosen, Joanna belongs to the Jewish American heritage. She is the sister of Jeffery Rosen, CEO of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
Rosen and Katyal have been together for over two decades now. They tied the knot in 2001, and have been supporting each other since then.
Neal Katyal has three children with Joanna. However, the lawyer is pretty protective of his children and has kept their identities and names very low profile.
Who are Neal Katyal Parents?
Neal Katyal’s parents are Indian immigrants and he belongs to the Indian ethnicity.
Katyal’s dad, who passed away in 2005, was an engineer by profession. The father and son were very close to each other. Neal still wears his dad’s bracelet in his memory. Likewise, his mother is a pediatrician.
Apparently, Katyal’s parents were repulsive about his wish to become a Lawyer at first. They wanted him to be a doctor or engineer. In fact, his mother reportedly cried when he announced his admission to the law school.
The scholar still pursued his dream despite the protest. He graduated from Dartmouth College and later attended Yale Law School. Similarly, he also worked as an editor for Yale’s Law Journal.
Eventually, his younger sister, Sonia, also followed the same path. A Brown graduate, Sonia got her JD from the University of Chicago Law School. She is currently employed at the UC Berkley School of Law.
