Sarah Edmondson was charged with attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery, and illegal use of a pistol in a violent crime. After serving 11 years of a 30-year jail sentence, she was granted parole in 2010.

Byers sued her two attackers, later including Oliver Stone, the director of the movie, and Time Warner. A Louisiana judge dismissed the complaint after Byers passed away from cancer in 1997 because there was no proof that Stone or Time Warner had incited violence.

Sarah stated she was carrying a loaded.38 handgun when the two of them left for Memphis because she had grown scared of Darras. During this questioning, she disclosed to the authorities their involvement in Savage’s murder.

Prior to entering a guilty plea to murder, he was given a 35-year prison sentence and released from the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

When a woman from the well-known Kennedy family of Oklahoma, together with her boyfriend who dropped out of Tahlequah High School, went on a crime spree inspired by the movie, it became a high-profile case.

18-year-old Sarah Edmondson and Benjamin James Darras got to know one another in Tahlequah in 1995 and became close.

On March 5, 1995, the two spent the night at Edmondson’s family cabin near Welling, where they routinely watched Natural Born Killers and engaged in LSD use. The film centers on a couple who kill many people in various places.

The decision to visit Memphis to witness a Grateful Dead show was made by Edmondson and Darras the next day. When the two finally made it to Hernando, Mississippi, the concert had already happened a week earlier.

Sarah Edmondson (18) and her lover Benjamin James Darras (18) spent a night by themselves viewing Natural Born Killers at her family’s cabin in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They left the chalet two days later after loading a.38 caliber handgun and blankets into Edmondson’s Nissan Maxima.

According to reports, they traveled from Muskogee to Memphis, Tennessee, to see the Grateful Dead perform. When they got to Hernando, Mississippi, on March 7, Darras fatally shot cotton-mill manager William Savage twice from point-blank range. Darras then removed a scrap of bloodied clothing off Savage to preserve as a reminder.

He later discussed killing Savage openly with Edmondson. They continued their journey to Ponchatoula, Louisiana, where Edmondson killed Patsy Byers, a cashier at a convenience store.
