While Carson was restrained in the backseat of her automobile at around 6 o’clock, Heather Strube was shot in the forehead with a.38 caliber revolver. According to eyewitnesses and 911 calls, the murderer was a short, skinny white male dressed in khaki slacks and a button-up shirt.
He had a mustache and black hair in addition to this. A composite sketch of the murderer was made based on the witness testimony. It was concluded that the murder was committed for personal reasons rather than robbery because Heather’s wallet was still in her car.
Heather Strube’s Murderer: Who Killed Her?
Joanna Hayes, who is also Heather Strube’s mother-in-law, was found guilty of killing Heather. She originally denied doing it but later confessed that she didn’t like Heather and that she wasn’t qualified to raise Carson.
The police then speculated that Joanna had killed Heather Strube while pretending to be her killer in order to prevent her from being granted custody of Carson. She carried a.38 caliber Lady Rossi 5 handgun with her at all times, which her ex-husband later admitted.
Joanna’s car was also the subject of a search order issued by the police, and wig fiber and gunshot residue got discovered in the truck during a forensic investigation. Prosecutors claimed Joanna put on a wig and a mustache before killing Heather Strube at her trial.
