Sarina, 52, overcame two significant personal struggles before she was able to guide her amazing team to this year’s Euro final. Before the competition, the national of The Hague experienced a terrible bereavement when her sister passed away just a month before the start.

Wiegman took a week off to grieve with her family. She kissed the little armband that belonged to her sister. When she returned, the team requested permission to wear black mourning bands during their opening contest as a mark of respect for her passing.
In remembrance of her sister, who recently passed away, Sarina Wiegman stated that “I think she was here, I think she was on the crossbar.”
She added, “That’s really a big miss because she’s my mate. She would have been here, she went to every game, so she would have been really proud of me, and I was really proud of her too”
Along with this grave sadness, Sarina recently overcame a case of covid, which she could shake off in time for last week’s quarterfinal against Spain.
Juggling through all these heartbreaks, she steered England to victory in front of more than 87,000 spectators. Her team defeated Germany by 2-1 in the extra period.

Sarina Wiegman’s Family Life And All The Siblings
Sarina Wiegman, 52, was born on October 26, 1969. She was born in The Hague, Netherlands. Even though her family details have not been disclosed, Wiegman lost her sister a month ago.
Wiegman started her coaching career after retiring in 2003. In 2014, she was hired as the national team’s assistant manager. After receiving her full coaching license, Wiegman became the first female coach at a Dutch professional football organization in 2016.

Wiegman, appointed head coach of the team, guided them to victory at the 2017 UEFA Women’s Euro. Two years later, she led the group to a runners-up medal at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
As announced in August 2020, Sarina Wiegman became the England women’s national team manager beginning in 2021. Under her direction, England broke Germany’s 21 goals at a Women’s Euro.

Sarina Wiegman is married to Marten Glotzbach, a man of German descent who is about the same age as his wife. According to his LinkedIn profile, Glotzbach graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and commerce in 1994.
He worked with Sarina in September 2021 when she took over as England’s head coach. The couple is parents to two daughters, Sacha Glotzbach and Lauren Glotzbach.
Wiegman began playing football on the streets of The Hague at a young age. She moved to ESDO at age six from Wassenaar, where she played with boys. Eventually, she joined the women’s team while playing for HSV Celeritas from The Hague.
The England manager, who made history as the first woman to ever coach the men’s professional team in her own country, has always had an unrivaled passion for the game. Her name shall forever be remembered for the brilliant victory England amassed on 31st July 2022, led by Wiegman.
