According to Wikipedia, Virginia Bell served as a Justice of the High Court of Australia from 2009 to 2021. At the time, former Australian politician Kevin Rudd nominated her, and 25th-governor general Quentin Bryce appointed her.
Bell started her career as a solicitor in 1977 in New South Wales and late at Redfern Legal Centre (1978-1984). While she worked as a solicitor, she also joined the Board of Governors of the Law Foundation and became its member.
Likewise, years after years, she crossed one milestone after another. In 1999, she served as the Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and at the same time, in 2008, she maintained her position as the Justice of the New South Wales Court of Appeal.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese appointed Virginia Bell to lead the inquiries on Scott Morrison and his secret appointments throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Virginia served in the High Court for around 12 years as justice and retired last year. PM Albanese mentioned, “We need to have a quick and appropriate inquiry, which is not about the politics but how this happened.”
Also, Mark Dreyfus stated, “This inquiry is one which absolutely was made necessary by the solicitor-general’s advice…”
She will be reporting to the government on 25 November.
