A 73-year-old man James Lambert passed away the next day after being attacked with a traffic cone by a group of young people on a North Philadelphia street last month. The attack was caught on camera.
Around 2:38 a.m. on June 24, James Lambert was ambushed while crossing Cecil B. Moore Avenue close to North 21st Street, according to Philadelphia police.
PPD posted a video of the fatal assault on 73-year-old Lambert on YouTube on Friday. They claimed that three females and four guys who appeared to be in their early to mid-teens were the perpetrators.

Footage shows the first young person to assault James Lambert beating the man with a traffic cone as he crossed the street away from the group. The victim’s face is blurred in the video. Another young individual is then seen picking up a cone and hurling it at the man a little while afterward.
After that, Lambert continues along the sidewalk before being pursued by a young woman who is holding a cone over her head.
This is James “Simmie” Lambert, the man who was killed.
His family tells me they’re heart broken and they saw him just hours before he was attacked.

According to a police online page, “the adolescents assaulted the victim multiple times with objects, knocking him to the ground and inflicting brain injuries. The sufferer was taken to the hospital, where the next day he succumbed to his wounds.
The young people can be seen fleeing the area in the footage; one even got on a scooter and appeared to be chatting with another young person shortly after the attack. Also observed racing down the sidewalk is a young person.
James Lambert Attackers On The Run After The Assault
The only specific description provided by the police of any of the young people was that one of them had a blonde hair patch. They are hoping that this picture, which features everyone from various perspectives, will aid in locating them.
As with any unsolved homicide in Philadelphia, the City offered a $20,000 reward for information that results in an arrest and conviction in this case.

Anyone who sees the teens is encouraged by the police to phone 911 right away. Anyone with information on the attack is urged to contact authorities by phone, text, or online to leave anonymous reports at 215-686-(8477).
Lambert’s family, who refer to him as “Simmie,” told NBC10‘s Danny Freeman that they are devastated by his passing.
