Marc Almond was in a near-fatal motorbike accident in 2004, which put him in a coma for weeks and left him with several fractures, compromised hearing, a collapsed lung, and significant head trauma.
It took Marc more than two years to recover, and his short-term memory is still a problem 13 years later. Soft Cell, an electro-pop duo, had a series of songs about sleaze, sex, drugs, Soho, prostitutes, S&M, transvestites, and bedsits long before the accident. All of human life was present for Almond and his lyrics.
However, the Covid epidemic and his near-death experience in 2004, when Marc was left in a coma for a month following a motorcycle accident, have inspired him to live in the present.
The album Enchanted, which spawned the UK Top 30 hit “A Lover Spurned,” was Almond’s first release of the 1990s.
Chaos and a Dancing Star, Almond’s next solo album, was released in January 2020, and it was co-written with Braide.
