In 2018, Kirsty was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, which triggered her secondary fibromyalgia condition.

Fibromyalgia causes your pain threshold to malfunction, causing even the tiniest twinge to cause excruciating pain. Every pain, according to Kirsty, was amplified to the point of being unbearable.

In an interview with The New York Times, Kirsty shared that she was in a lot of pain at first, especially in her joints. She would wake up with the sensation of glass in her joints.

Kirsty’s medical conditions necessitated a break from her career, as rest is essential for pain relief. Regarding her decision to leave her job as host of the iconic radio show Desert Island Discs, she believed there was no option, even if it was difficult.

Kirsty Young’s husband is none other than Nick Jones, the owner of the illustrious Babington House hotel and health club. Additionally, Nick is the founder and CEO of Soho House UK Ltd, a collection of luxury private members’ clubs.

The 58-year-old began his career as a marketing manager at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane before launching the Over the Top restaurant group in the 1980s.

Jones opened the Soho House Club above his Café Boheme restaurant in 1995, and since then, his portfolio has grown to include six London restaurants and five clubs in the UK and New York.

They fell head over heels for each other after meeting for the first time at the Georgian manor in September 1998. One year later, in 1999, the two tied the knot with heartfelt vows in Babington House’s chapel.
