What Was Erika Sandoval Verdict? Husband Daniel Green Murder And Case Update

Erika Sandoval is the alleged murderer of Extere Police Officer Daniel Green. Erika and Daniel were once a couple but parted ways; therefore, it is believed that their strained relationship was the root of this homicide on February 6, 2015.

Green was 31 years old at the time of his death. Erika, his ex-wife, shot him four times in the forehead at his house; one bullet was fired on his forehead, ultimately killing him. No one heard the gunshots, nor did anyone call 911 following the incident. Green’s fellow Exeter Police Officer Alex Geiger sensed something wrong because Daniel did not arrive at the police station on time, so he went to check him out and found him dead.

As of 2022, Erika Sandoval is still under legal boundaries while she waits for her second trial. The verdict will probably be announced in September 2022.

What Was Erika Sandoval’s Verdict?

After Erika’s first court trial was announced to be a mistrial, her second court appearance is scheduled for September 2022, so the verdict is yet to be announced.

A judge in Tulare County ruled that Erika’s first court trial, arranged on December 3, 2019, was a mistrial. Judge Joseph Kalashian affirmed a mistrial in the case when the jury informed the court that Erika’s verdict on “murder one,” which refers to the first-degree murder accusation brought against her, could not be legally met.

The trial lasted four days, and according to ABC 30, only one jury disagreed with the choice to convict Sandoval. All 11 of the other jurors agreed with the conviction. A fresh trial was supposed to start in 2020, but the coronavirus outbreak forced a postponement.

Sandoval is still in custody in 2022 and is waiting for her second trial, whose verdict is anticipated to be announced in September 2022. She might be sentenced to death if found guilty of murder.

Relationship between Daniel Green And Erika

Daniel Green was shot to death in his own home in February 2015. Erika Sandoval, his ex-wife, eventually acknowledged that she had killed him.

Daniel first met Erika at the end of 2009, and the two connected immediately. Both eventually came to a mutual marriage decision; however, things began to go downhill soon after. Daniel’s siblings asserted that Erika tortured Daniel shortly after their marriage, and Erika, on the other hand, indicated that Daniel was the abuser.

In 2011, the couple’s clash elevated to the level where authorities had to intervene and take both of them into custody for domestic abuse. However, no charges were filed against either of them.

Their marriage ended severely in 2012. Regardless, Erika moved back with Daniel after learning that she was pregnant. When their child Aiden was born, Daniel was the happiest being alive. Still, because the tumultuous situation between him and Erika peaked, in June 2013, almost six months after the birth of Aiden, Daniel asked Erika to move out. Erika did, but she brought Aiden along.

The couple was on and off for a long time. When the pair started sharing beds again in 2014, Daniel told friends that he had the shock of his life when he woke up to see Erika holding a gun to his head. Erika had dreamed of Daniel cheating on her. Yet again splitting up, Daniel and Erika reconnected in January 2015 to celebrate Aiden’s second birthday. Weeks later, everyone, including Erika, knew that Daniel was seeing someone new.

Daniel Green Was Shot Dead In February 2015

On February 6, 2015, just as Daniel began his new dating life, his ex-wife shot and killed him in his house. He was shot to death with bullet wounds to his hand, chest, neck, and forehead. Detectives immediately detained Erika, and she confessed to killing Daniel.

Despite Erika’s testimony, the court ruling deviated against the deceased Daniel, where it came out that Daniel watched child porn with his son Aiden. Erika testified before the jury, explaining why she shot Daniel: she was driven by obsessional worries that Daniel would be abusing their son. Another side of the story explains that  Daniel received more than 100 aggressive texts from Erika after he posted pictures with his new girlfriend on his social media.

Erika stated at the trial that she regretted killing Daniel every day and claimed that it brought an omen to both her son and her family. Erika was terminated from her parental rights after she committed the crime. Daniel’s brother Matt and his wife adopted Aiden after that.
