Stephen Straus, an 88-year-old person who worked as a stockbroker, was one of the seven victims who tragically lost their lives following the Fourth of July parade shooting in Highland Park, Illinois.

The police have detained a 21-year-old man named Robert Crimo, who is currently in custody in connection to the mass shooting at Highland Park’s Fourth of July Parade that left seven dead and at least 30 injured.

He has been charged with seven counts of first-degree murder, officials announced Tuesday evening. He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if he is convicted of those charges.

On the parade route, where many people had staked out prime viewing spots early in the day for the customary spectacle, the shooting occurred.

Stephen Straus was an 88-year-old financial advisor and stockbroker who is identified as one of seven victims in the brutal Highland Park mass shooting.

He continued to commute by train from his Highland Park home to his Chicago office at a brokerage firm. Five days a week, he commuted into the city by train for work. He also found time for after-work outings to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Art Institute.

Straus was a native of the Chicago area and the son of lifelong Midwesterners who supported a large number of Jewish refugees during the Holocaust.

Twitter has been flooded with death tributes and condolences to Stephen Straus, an 88-year-old victim of the Highland Park shooting.

Straus’ relatives characterized him as the patriarch of the family and a busybody, adding that he was destined to live a very long time. In an interview on Tuesday, his niece Cynthia Straus remarked, “He had an inexhaustible thirst for life.”

He was an honorable man who worked hard his entire life, protected his family, and gave everything he had to everyone, according to Cynthia, Stephen’s niece. He possessed great intelligence, humor, and wit in addition to being kind and polite.

Stephen Straus Family Details

Stephen Straus, an exceptional joke-teller, an avid reader, and a “culture vulture”, was survived by his wife Linda, to whom he had been married for more than 60 years.

He had two sons named, Jon and Peter, as well as four grandchildren, in addition to his brother, Laurence, in the family. Stephen also has a niece named Cynthia Straus.

His mother is from the Hyde Park district of Chicago, where the family has belonged to the Reform synagogue KAM Isaiah Israel for many years. His father is from Maysville, Kentucky.
