Imran Riaz Khan, a journalist and news anchor, was detained by Attock police on Tuesday according to Geo News.
A first information report (FIR) has been filed against Khan in Attock, according to the police, who informed the media outlet.
According to media accounts, he has been a vocal opponent of the Pakistani establishment and the current coalition government presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The police and Rangers units apprehended the journalist Imran Riaz Khan and took him into custody. Imran Riaz Khan’s attorney, Mian Ali Ashfaque, told ARY News that his client had been arrested at Islamabad Toll Plaza.
He claimed that Imran Riaz Khan cannot be detained in accordance with the unequivocal orders of the Islamabad High Court and described the detention as an act of judicial disobedience.

Mian Ali claimed that Imran Riaz Khan has had 30 FIRs filed against him so far, all of which resulted in the Islamabad High Court granting him bail.
A number of FIRs against journalists had already been filed in a variety of towns, including Muzzafargarh and Sargodha. The claims state that the anchor’s behavior was a severe criminal and a violation of the Constitution.
