In January 2017, Wyc married Emilia Fazzalari. Wyc and Emilia collaborated with fellow N.B.A. owners Michael Jordan, Jeanie Buss, and Wes Edens to launch Cincoro Tequila in September 2019.

The couple founded Grousbeck Fazzalari to guide their philanthropic efforts. The Grousbeck family as a whole contributed to the foundation. Stripes are always the answer, as any good New Englander knows. So, after losing sleep trying to come up with a bold statement for her clients’ Boston dining room, interior designer Lucinda Loya had an epiphany: stripes.

The Sherwin-Williams Copper Mountain stripe down the centre of Emilia Fazzalari Grousbeck and Wyc Grousbeck’s dining room ceiling, wall, and window frame is the first thing to catch your eye when you exit the elevator into the fourth-floor apartment in Maison Vernon, a seven-unit building on Beacon Hill. Even though Fazzalari Grousbeck is one of her best friends, it wasn’t an easy sell for the Houston, Texas-based interior designer.

“Everything in the space launched from that stripe,” Loya says, “but Emilia called the day before we were supposed to start painting and said she changed her mind and didn’t think we should do it.” I had to persuade her again.”

Fazzalari Grousbeck’s favourite room in the apartment is now the dining room. Every day, the co-founder and CEO of Cincoro Tequila and her husband, the lead owner of the Boston Celtics, dine in the room. When the couple and their blended family of six are in Boston, they use the apartment they bought in 2017.

The Young People’s Society of Christian Endeavor built Maison Vernon in 1917 as a printing facility, and no expense was spared, according to John I. Meyer Jr., principal at Meyer & Meyer Architecture and Interiors, the project’s architect. The building is fifty feet wide, which is unusual in a city where sixteen to twenty-two feet is the norm.

That prompted Marcel Safar, a founding partner at Chevron Partners, to purchase and develop Maison Vernon in 2014. “No one wanted this building because it didn’t have parking, but its grandeur was so unique to us because its width is so uncommon in Boston,” Safar says. “From family gatherings to important functions, our clients use their spaces for everything, and those spaces become expressions of the client.” In terms of parking, a 24-hour valet service alleviated the problem.

Indeed, the Grousbecks enjoy throwing large-guest parties. Loya designed the apartment to accommodate the tall basketball players and coaches who come for dinner. The couple placed a high value on comfort.
