Yuzuru Hanyu and Sister Saya Hanyu Age Difference, Meet His Parents

Saya Hanyu, who is twenty-nine years old, is one year older than her famous skating Olympian brother Yuzuru Hanyu, born on December 7, 1994.

Being a sports enthusiast, she enrolled in a brief figure skating course when she was a little girl. Yuzuru enrolled in the class after her sister, but she struggled to pay attention because of her lack of enthusiasm. The Olympic winner then sided with his sister after being swayed by her.

However, because of the financial situation, just one could continue doing sports. Saya left her skating lessons as she wished her brother a prosperous future. The brother-and-sister team had a similar appearance and had the traits of keeping composed, focused, and determined.

He is the first men’s singles skater to complete a Super Slam, having won all significant competitions in his senior and junior seasons. Hanyu has been hailed as one of the best figure skaters in history for his all-around abilities, accomplishments, popularity, and impact on the sport.

Yuzuru Hanyu was born to his parents, Yumi Hanyu, a former department store clerk and junior high school teacher Hidetoshi Hanyu. Hanyu’s father suggested baseball to him before he eventually selected figure skating; he also served as the club’s advisor.

Early in his career, Hanyu’s mother made all of his costumes, including those for his free skate from the 2010–2011 season, which American figure skater Johnny Weir created. When his father and older sister, Saya, remained in Japan, she accompanied him while he was receiving training in Toronto, Canada.

Hanyu’s name, which also stands for assurance, strength, and straightness, was inspired by his father’s wish that he “lives in a dignified way like a firmly drawn bowstring.”

As a teacher, Hidetoshi had little money to spare for his family. Yumi worked sporadically at a department store and a laundromat. The pair has been leading a healthy lifestyle despite not having good early wealth. The pair, as well as the family as a whole, have not forgotten their origins, though.

Hanyu was identified as having asthma at two, a disease that progressively improved over time. Hanyu’s asthma continued to be a problem for him well into his junior competition career, and Canadian choreographer David Wilson has said that it was not until Hanyu switched to adult competition that he could figure out how to deal with his asthma-related stamina problems.

When Hanyu was four years old, his sister’s coach, Mami Yamada, advised him to try skating rather than disrupting his sister’s practice. As soon as Hanyu stepped onto the ice, Yamada saw his impatience.

He sprinted over to the ice, leaped, fell hard, struck his helmet on the surface, immediately got to his feet, and started running again. Yamada, though, commended Hanyu for his capacity to convey sincerity. After guiding him through elementary school second grade,

When Yamada had to relocate to a different prefecture, he urged Shichichir Tsuzuki [ja], the former coach of Minoru Sano, who won Japan’s first medal at the World Figure Skating Championships, to work with Hanyu and “not waste his gift.”

Hanyu announced his decision to “walk away” from competitive figure skating and become a professional at a press conference on July 19, 2022, saying that “he had done everything he could achieve and ceased wishing to be assessed.”

He added that he intended to keep pursuing his “ideal skating” and his desire to become a professional athlete by performing the quadruple Axel. According to Nikkei Asia, Hanyu’s departure from the professional circuit “marks the end of an era.”

We “may never see another skater like Yuzuru Hanyu,” as The New York Times’ Juliet Macur put it. Many athletes, inside and outside of figure skating, expressed gratitude and praise in response to Hanyu’s statement, including Japanese gymnast Kohei Uchimura, baseball star Shohei Ohtani, and tennis player Naomi Osaka.

After avoiding social media for years, Hanyu made accounts there afterward. These profiles are primarily run by personnel.

He stated that he did not plan to film videos about his day-to-day life but intended to use his YouTube channel to showcase his skating and broaden the audience, including people who cannot travel to ice exhibitions and reside abroad.

Hanyu performed his previous free skate programs, including a faultless rendition of Seimei with the identical elements that he had performed at the 2018 Winter Olympics, during an open practice session on August 10 that was live-streamed on his channel.

Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu competes in figure skating. Yuzuru Hanyu has a net worth of $2 million as of 2022. He is the first Asian guy to triumph in the Olympic men’s singles skating event. 

Additionally, he became the first person to win two consecutive gold medals since Button’s back-to-back Olympic victories in 1948 and 1952. During a 2016 CS Autumn Classic International competition, Hanyu became the first skater in history to complete a quadruple loop successfully.
