Harrison Petty Partner And Family As Dayne Zorko Slur Has A Social Media Backlash

Brisbane captain Dayne Zorko was accused of making a racial insult in connection to a family member of Harrison Petty in the AHL Brisbane Lions v.s Melbourne match on 19 August 2022. Petty was clearly offended by it.

Despite Melbourne’s Christian Petracca insisting that his team did not intend to target the Lions before the game, Zorko engaged in numerous fights with the defending champions during a feisty game. As the third quarter break approached, tensions rose further, with Channel 7 and Fox Footy reporting that Zorko exchanged words with Petty. Petty was seen in tears soon after his altercation with Zorko, and it became apparent that Zorko told him something unusual.

Petty began the fourth period on the interchange bench as he tried to reset himself following the incident. He was consoled by head coach Simon Goodwin and many backroom staff members. After the game ended, Melbourne hardman Steven May was seen approaching Zorko. Zorko ultimately made his way over to Petty after his conversation with Steven, and he was seen shaking hands with Petty, indicating the two made up. 

Melbourne general manager Alan Richardson claimed that Petty overheard a joke about his family member that left him in tears.
