The 23-year-old American football player grew up with his two siblings, Ryan Otton and Kylie Otton, in Tumwater, Washington.

Cade’s mother, Sally, passed away in September 2022, bringing a shadow of grief to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end and his family. She had Parkinson’s disease.

The tragedy hit Otton so profoundly that he could not attend training and practices for weeks. However, he is back on his feet and stronger than ever. On December 6, in a thrilling and nailbiting NFL encounter against New Orleans, Cade scored a touchdown to secure a 17-16 win.

Cade Otton was born to parents Tim Otton and Sally Otton who raised him in a family of five in Tumwater.

His upbringing was not typical. Instead, he was raised in the Otton family, which has a long history in football. His father, Tim, and mother, Sally, did all they could to harness the inner footballing blood from their kids so that the family legacy could live on.

As a result, two of their kids, Cade and younger brother Ryan, are playing football at the professional level. And not only that, but his uncles were also involved with sports.

Tim knew his two sons, Ryan and Cade, would be competing in big tournaments that he and his wife Sally, a former University of Utah swimmer, would be interested in seeing. On the other hand, Kylie, his daughter, moved to the East Coast to pursue a profession in veterinary pharmacy.

Cade’s grandfather Sid Otton established a football tradition in his family long ago, followed by Tim. Now, he is giving continuity to the long-standing family legacy. 

He acquired the principles of the sport from his grandpa Sid Otton, who coached high school football for 49 seasons, including 43 at Tumwater High, where Cade and Tim played. Brad Otton, an uncle born in Tumwater, later led USC to the Rose Bowl.

As equipped as anyone to excel as a football player, Cade Otton arrived in Washington. He was descended from the state’s most successful high school coach.

Otton enters the 2020 season on a steady path to become the Huskies’ next outstanding tight end, stepping into a position of traditional distinction at the institution. He has the game in his blood, and his talents have substantially improved.

Tim Otton Played At And Coached Tumwater High School

Cade Otton father Tim Otton is a football coach and former player who played and coached at Tumwater High.

The three generations of the Otton family played football for Tumwater High. They contributed significantly to the school breaking all the records and taking the Washington-based school to a new height of football.

Tim Otton, 54, has had success because of his father, Sid, who was a pioneer of his family to play football. The three-time Olympian is the oldest of Sid and Marjean Otton’s three children.

Tim watched as his grandfather Sid amassed 386 victories as the winningest high school football coach in Washington history while leading Tumwater to five state titles.

Meanwhile, Tim’s younger sister Tana won four state championships in volleyball, three at Tumwater and one at Meridian. Similarly, for a brief while, UNLV’s quarterbacks were coached by his brother Brad.

Tim majored in business and used to run pizza restaurants in different parts of the US. However, he returned to sports and became an assistant coach to his father at T-bird. Later after Tim retired, he became the head coach of the football club and continued exactly where Sid left off.

Sally Otton Was A Physical Education Teacher

Cade’s mother Sally Otton was a high school physical education teacher in Olympia.

She passed away on September 20, 2022, at 50, after losing a battle with Parkinson’s disease. The mother of three reportedly had been struggling with the illness for a few years.

“I’m so thankful God gave me you as a mom. I’ll smile at our memories forever,” the NFL standout wrote on Instagram. “I love you, and I’ll miss you so much.”

Before she had any illness, Sally worked many years as a high school physical education teacher in Olympia. She is an avid sports lover and supporter. His mother was a swimmer and volleyball player at the University of Utah.

Sally enjoyed running half-marathons and triathlons, sometimes before getting pregnant. Before her kids were even born, she was participating in athletic competitions. As a result, all of her kids are now professional athletes.
