Dylon R. Peterson of Vancouver is still in jail after being sentenced to 57 years in prison for the murders of 15-year-old Mathew Nagle and his 45-year-old mother, Sandra Torrell.

Their deaths were discovered inside a duplex at 2901 K Street in Vancouver on January 7, after Peterson called 911 and claimed he had stabbed two individuals.

On the 911 tape, he is heard telling a dispatcher, “I made sure they were dead before I called.”

Peterson resided with Nagle and stabbed him in the neck while Nagle was sleeping. Peterson also fatally stabbed Torrell, who did not live there but was staying the night.

On April 30, Peterson pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.

Peterson did not speak during his sentence, leaving the victims’ families with unanswered concerns about why he did it. Even the prosecutor wasn’t sure what motivated Peterson to stab mother and son.

Police claimed he was inebriated on the night of the murders, but his defense attorney informed the court that it was not being offered as a justification.

After the 25-year-old made the 911 call, officers discovered the bodies of a 45-year-old lady and her 15-year-old son in a yellow duplex in the Rose Village neighborhood.

Peterson was also present at the incident and was detained after being questioned by authorities.
