Who Is Elisjsha Dicken? Man Intervened When A Shooter Began Shooting In An Indiana Mall, What Happened?

For allegedly stopping the mass shooter who is accused of killing three people and injuring two others at the Indiana Greenwood Park Mall, Elisjsha Dicken is being hailed as a hero.

According to Mayor Mark W. Myers, who published a statement shared by police on Facebook, the shooter, identified by the county coroner as Jonathan Spearman, was shot and killed on the spot by Dicken, who has been called the Good Samaritan by authorities. On Monday, July 18, 2022, authorities announced Dicken’s name. Police claimed that even though the mall had a policy against having weapons on its grounds, he was legally carrying the rifle.

The police have verified four fatalities and two injuries as of 9:40 p.m., according to the mayor, including a 12-year-old girl who had minor wounds. The shooter is one of the four fatalities.

Jonathan Douglas Spearman had three rifles, a pistol, and a Sig Sauer M400 semi-automatic weapon in his possession. Authorities claimed that he had more than 100 rounds of ammo on him.

According to police, Spearman entered the restroom at 4:54 p.m. and didn’t come out until an hour and two minutes later before opening the fire. Elisjsha Dicken, 22, was the Good Samaritan who fatally shot Spearman, according to the police.

Authorities claim that Spearman shot Pedro and Rosa while dining in a chair. Gomez was shot while he was outside the bathroom.

Family members informed authorities that Spearman had never shown any signs of violence to them and that they were shocked by the attack. Police discovered a charred laptop in the oven when they inspected Spearman’s residence because he was a lone resident. His cellphone was found in the mall’s restroom.

The suspect has been identified as Greenwood resident Jonathan Douglas Spearman, 20. Around six o’clock in the evening, the shooter started firing, killing two more persons. 1251 U.S. Highway 31 N., in the mall’s food court, according to the authorities.

According to the Johnson County coroner, two persons, including the alleged shooter, were declared dead at the site. In contrast, two others, male and female, were taken to the Franciscan Health Center and Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.

One of the teen participants survivors was taken by herself to the hospital with minor wounds, according to the police. From the site, a second victim was sent to the hospital. Her condition wasn’t recognized right away.

According to Greenwood Park Mall’s food court’s armed patron, the shooter was shot and killed there, according to Greenwood Police Chief James Eason. A 22-year-old man from Bartholomew County is a civilian helping the police. No other information about the person has been released by the authorities.
