Gina recently came forward and informed her friends, and following that, after a regular hospital visit, doctors discovered that she had AIDS, the fatal condition that develops after a protracted and untreated HIV infection.
According to doctors, Gina has likely been living with AIDS for at least a decade.

Gina Tew was given the diagnosis of “wasting disease” before learning that she has AIDS. Her weight suddenly dropped to only 70 pounds, and even though she had always been a thin girl, she was now unable to walk.

Tew said that the infection caused her to lose a significant amount of weight, eventually settling at 65 pounds. Just to bring her body back into a shape that was useful, she had to go through physical therapy.
She has provided various updates, including those from the hospital on her blood count and those demonstrating that she can now support herself.
She expressed in the video how much she missed being able to walk and encouraged viewers to value their own mobility.
Due to the infection, she also lost her ability to see out of one eye and walk, but with physical treatment, she has now regained it.
