After storming the presidential palace’s gates, hundreds of people strolled into its chambers, and part of the boisterous crowd was jumping into the compound’s pool. The video went viral on the internet immediately.

Furthermore, there is no touch with his wife or children, and no sign of them has been located anywhere in the nation. As a result, it is possible that they too fled the country or went underground.

Manoj Rajapaksa earned a degree in engineering from a prominent university, but information about her spouse and first lady, Ioma Rajapaksa, is unavailable on the internet.

Where Is Mahinda Rajapaksa Now?

There has also been no word from Gotabaya’s brother, Mahinda Rajapaksa, a former President who was deposed as Prime Minister precisely two months earlier, on May 9.

The reign of the Rajapaksa family in Sri Lanka will end following the economic crisis that left many citizens without food and other necessities.

The Indian Express writes, “Mahinda, Gotabaya, and the others are part of a tenacious political dynasty that is perhaps South Asia’s biggest and perhaps its most brazenly nepotistic.”

Mahinda Rajapaksa’s ascent to prominence began in 2004, when he was appointed Prime Minister under the presidency of Chandrika Kumaratunga Bandaranaike, a choice she subsequently said was her worst mistake.

In 2005, he won the presidential election and decided to go all-out against The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in the north and east. Mahinda appointed his brother Gotabaya as Defence Secretary.

However, Mahinda’s ascendancy was interrupted in 2015 when he lost his third presidential election. While in power, he was one ruthless ruler.
