Hali Flickinger Husband Martin Grodzki Is A Swimmer Turned Realtor

Hali Flickinger husband Martin Grodzki is a two time NCAA swimming champion and realtor. Martin hails from Berlin.

Martin was born on April 18, 1991. He first came to the US as a high school exchange student. After deciding to pursue his higher education in the states, he enrolled at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. 

Even though he was away from his family for long periods, Martin was extremely grounded in his roots back in Germany. He kept in touch and visited his family whenever he could. 

While in college, Grodzki swam for the Bulldogs, securing SEC titles in the 1650 freestyle and 500 freestyle. He also represented his motherland many times in international competitions. Grodzki’s swimming career didn’t have a niche, and he dabbled in all types of events from 50m to 1500m. 

Martin broke the NCAA and US Open records in the mile freestyle competition of the Men’s NCAA Swimming Championship in 2012. He was a full 2 seconds ahead of the previous record holder, finishing the mile in 14:24.08.

Grodzki graduated from UGA in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He decided not to pursue the water sport or psychology after college and instead became a realtor. Although a degree in psychology certainly comes into handy while making a sale. 

As of today, Martin has made an impressive 18 sales. He has a perfect 5-star customer rating on Zillow. “The market is insanely tough right now, and at times when we were disheartened, Martin reassured us that we would find what we wanted,” wrote Ashli, one of Martin’s many satisfied clients. 

In his current life in Arizona, Hali isn’t the only family member of Martin’s household. He is the dad of two super cute labradors named Teagan and Laken. He is also the dad of three beautiful cats, but we think they prefer their mom more.

Hali Flickinger and Martin Grodzki married twice in May 2016 and August 2017. Hali and Martin have been dating since 2012.

After the two college swimmers met at UGA, they developed feelings for each other rather quickly. Hali and Martin officially started dating on September 30, 2012. They celebrated their tenth anniversary less than three months ago.

Martin proposed to Hali just after she finished her races at the 2016 NCAA Championships in Atlanta. They had a rushed wedding in between competitions in May 2016. The first wedding was immediately followed by a very rigorous training for Hali for the Rio Olympics and the World Championships in Budapest.

Although a rushed wedding might have felt romantic at the time, the couple decided they wanted an actual proper wedding, surrounded by friends and family. Their second wedding ceremony was held on August 26, 2017, at the Georgia Club. Hali’s coach and good friend, Jack Bauerle, married the couple. 

In 2020, Flickinger and Grodzki decided to move to Arizona, reluctantly leaving behind Georgia, a place where Hali has trained for over seven years and seen so much success. 

“I didn’t have the guts to do it. I have needed a change environment-wise. I knew I wanted to swim outside and be somewhere a little different,” she said in an interview with Dan D’Addona of Swimming World Magazine. 

Training under a new coach, Bob Bowman, she has already started seeing good results in this new chapter of her career. At 28 years old, she became the oldest American female swimmer to win an individual gold medal in swimming. She took the 400m individual medley at the World Short Course Championships in Melbourne just a few days ago. 

Besides being a realtor, Hali Flickinger’s spouse Martin Grodzki’s other job is being her number 1 fan. With such a supportive partner by her side and an unwavering winner’s attitude, we are sure Hali’s career will thrive for at least a few more years.
