The famed English journalist and broadcaster Harry Gration served as one of the primary hosts for BBC Yorkshire. Despite a brief stint at BBC South Today between 1995-1999, Harry had worked as a broadcaster for the BBC for 40 years as of 2018.

The anchor had shared the stage with several other notable faces like Christa Ackroyd, Clare Frisby, and Judith Stamper. Also, he recently co-anchored the show with Amy Garcia. Gration, the MBE, and DL died today at the age of 71.

The BBC presenter was hired by the channel in 1978 and by Look North in 1982. Gration appeared last on BBC in October 2020, one day before turning 70. Harry claimed to have “always lived the story” and he was loved everywhere.

According to BBC Director-General Tim Davie, Harry Gration MBE was a superb broadcaster and pundit, full of knowledge.

As he died suddenly, Helen Gration, Mr. Gration’s wife, praised him and said that “he will always be with us.” She further added that the whole family, her with their three boys adored him and had so much fun together.

Harry Gration was born on October 22, 1950, in Bradford, United Kingdom. He married Helen Gration who is his third wife. From his previous two marriages, Harry had three other children. 

With Helen, Harry had three children, two boy twins, Harvey and Harrison, and a new baby, whom they welcomed in September last year. The couple was in the spotlight for having a baby at that age, as Helen was 50, and Harry was 68 while they gave birth to their newborn.

The couple was also called for not having enough time for each other as the new one will keep them occupied. Nevertheless, Harry and Helen said that they always make time for one another to keep their romantic spark alive.

The death of Harry has certainly numbed the media world, but people are mostly reminiscing the good time Harry gave or the good time they spent with him. In his career, he received two Royal Television Society (RTS) prizes for sports documentaries. Likewise, he also won the RTS Best Presenter award.

Midway through his hosting career, the Bradford native also started compiling match reports for the BBC as he was a history teacher. The man had covered multiple Olympic and Commonwealth Games as well while working for the corporation.
