Later, DiPietro got drafted by the Vancouver Canucks (64th overall )in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and currently plays for the Providence Bruins of the AHL as a prospect to the Boston Bruins of the NHL.

DiPietro is the only child of Vic and Rebecca; however, his dad’s second marriage blessed him with a stepbrother Mark Fenty who is six years older than him.

Mark inspired the athlete to switch to a goalie, as he also played Div. III college hockey. He fell in love with the position after watching his brother make a breakaway save; he loved the idea of how one block could turn the game around.

However, Fenty didn’t continue to pursue the sport professionally and settled as an architectural engineer in Kansas City. Unlike him, Michael committed to goaltending as his present and future job.

Michael Dipietro Career: From Playing Minor Hockey To NHL

Michael plays for the Providence Bruins of the National Hockey League as a prospect to the Bruins of the National Hockey League.

The athlete began playing minor hockey at a young age and has become a professional goaltender. Before the Vancouver Canucks drafted him 64th overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, he played for the Minor Midget AAA team of the Sun County Panthers.

Furthermore, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with Canucks on the 31st of May, 2018. Later on the 5th of February 2019, he got called up on an emergency basis to the NHL when Thatcher Demko got injured.

Thus, DiPietro made his NHL debut on the 11th of February 2019 against the San Jose Sharks; he stopped 17 of 24 shots. He became the second youngest Canucks goaltender (19 years, 247 days) to debut in franchise history, only surpassed by Troy Gamble; Troy was 19 years and 229 days at the time of his debut.

Moreover, the goaltender received the F. W. “Dinty” Moore Trophy after his rookie year. Likewise, he won the Memorial Cup with the Spitfires during his sophomore year; the team even got matching tattoos to celebrate the victory.
