Who Is Jason Pires From CTV? What To Know About The Reporter

Jason Pires works as a co-anchor in the popular and much-followed CTV Morning Live in Vancouver, Canada.

Jason, a repeat Edward R. Murrow Award and RTNDA Award recipient, is constantly searching for the next exciting piece to present. He says that people constantly invite him into their homes. These people want to share their stories with Jason, which are very interesting and personal sometimes. 

Jason believes that he is privileged to be able to hear people narrate their stories. Pires enjoys his life and work as an anchor and says it is quite a rare way to make a living.

The Early Days of Jason Pires and His Career

Jason, born and brought up in Victoria, graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology whilst playing varsity soccer there.

After taking a year off to travel across Europe, he returned to school to finish the Broadcast Journalism degree at BCIT. He began working as a news reporter for CHEK-TV in his hometown the following year.

Jason worked as the television channel’s first sports director, presenter, and correspondent in 2001 when a brand-new television channel in the capital of British Columbia (now known as CTV Vancouver Island) was being established. Under his direction, the sports section became a dominant player for Vancouver Island sports coverage.

After more than six years at CTV Vancouver Island, Jason wanted a leap and was excited about a new adventure when the 2010 Vancouver Olympics were announced. He leaped at the opportunity to enter the sports department at CTV Vancouver, the official Olympic network.

The Feather in The Hat in Jason Pires’ Career

It goes without saying that Jason’s experience reporting the Olympics and Paralympics in Vancouver/Whistler is by far his current professional high point.

Jason is aware it will be difficult to top. However, the Vancouver Canucks’ Stanley Cup run in 2011 and the Vancouver Whitecaps’ debut MLS season came close to Jason’s other high points in his career.

Pires traveled to Phoenix to witness Steve Nash’s back-to-back NBA MVP honors, which was another remarkable experience. The NBA future Hall-of-Famer and Jason were childhood friends who played baseball and soccer together in Victoria.

Jason Pires’ Other Interests Along with Journalism

Jason is as passionate about travel as he is about sports journalism.

Pires has traveled to over 25 countries thus far, and he is constantly planning his next journey. Many of his travels are to witness a sporting event live.

Jason also takes pleasure in volunteering and participating in various community activities and fundraisers, such as the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes, the Children’s Wish Foundation, the Kids Help Phone Walk, and a few charity golf outings.

Jason prefers to spend his free time playing golf, enjoying time with his family and friends, running on the seawall, and dining at top-notch restaurants in Vancouver.

Jason Pires got married to the love of his life, Anita on March 27, 2019.

The wedding was an absolute surprise for everybody. Jason’s colleagues shared his happiness and became a part of it. CTV also announced his marriage in a piece of special news the very next morning of the wedding. Needless to say, the surprise incited the excitement of everybody.

CTV also shared this happy news on its social media handles. The comments on the marriage posts were all very positive and congratulatory. The followers were all for sending happy vibes the couple’s way.

The couple shares a very happy life and we keep seeing adorable pictures of the two on Jason’s Instagram.
