Izzy Route was born on December 2, 1984, and is one of his parents Carl Louis Route Jr. and Kathy Jean Route’s seven children.
He obtained an NCAA Division I football scholarship to Hampton University, where he first redshirted season before participating in two more until being dismissed from the squad.
His brother J.I.D. released Cakewalk, his debut mixtape, on May 18, 2010. That year, he co-founded Spillage Village alongside EarthGang, Hollywood JB, and Jordan Bryant. He released Cakewalk 2, his second mixtape, on June 29, 2011.
On June 25, 2012, he released Route of All Evil, his third mixtape, which included contributions from EarthGang and Still. Before being hired for local live performances, J.I.D. started his music career by delivering pizza and working at call centers. His next Para Tu mixtape was released on October 22, 2013. A second release of the mixtape took place on December 29, 2017.
