Joanne Courtney husband Mark Courtney is a medical student of the University of Ottawa. Mark completed his graduation in 1995.
Like Mark, Joanne is also in the medical field as a nurse besides her career as a curler. She represented her country Canada at the Winter Olympics in 2018.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, the registered nurse has been in the field of Curler since 2014 and has represented Canada three times. She was declared the winner of the World Women’s Curling Championship of 2012.

After graduating, Mark started working as a full-time medical doctor at the University of Alberta. It has been 27 years since then.
Besides his profession as a doctor, he leads the training program for Adult nephrology and is a vice-chairman of the Canadian Society of Nephrology Education Committee.

Joanne Courtney and Mark Courtney became parents for the first time in 2019 with the birth of their son Alexander Courtney.
Their only child was born on July 17, 2019, and is three years old. Alexander was at Jasper National Park days before he turned two years old with his mother.
On August 26, 2022, she took her kid to Waterton Lakes National Park, Parks Canada. Like his parents, he enjoys a little time with nature.
Mark posted the picture of Joanne on Instagram for the first time in 2015. The exact date of their meeting and marriage is yet to be revealed, but we can safely say they have been married for more than seven years.
Whenever they get time off, the two pack their bags and go on a little adventure. Mark and Joanne went backpacking in the snowy mountains in Banff, Alberta, with a pair of snowshoes in January 2016. They trotted around for a while before stopping at the Emerald Lake at Yoho National Park in February 2016.
In September, the lovebirds found themselves at yet another beautiful destination. Joanne and her spouse went on a safari at the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.
As they both graduated from the University of Alberta and have been working at the same hospital since graduating, it is likely they met at the University. With their aligned interest in helping the people and treating them, it was only a matter of time before sparks went off.
This pair rarely shares pictures of their togetherness on their social media but often posts their kid’s pictures. Joanne returned to social media in 2022 to connect with more people and share all content of Alex.
Raising by an athletic mother, Alex has shown an interest in basketball since the age of three. Through Instagram posts, Joanne mentioned her son was ready to watch her performance on TV, as well as basketball games.
