No, Jordan Peterson is not Muslim, a hard-core Christian, or Catholic. His faith and religion are something that cannot be easily specified.  

Peterson is a Canadian psychologist, author and Youtube Personality. He is known for his bold views on some contemporary socio-political issues.

Most of his principles are encapsulated in his book, “12 Rules For Life” and “Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life”. But, people kept turning pages while trying to find his view on religion.

Jordan Peterson’s Religion: Muslim or Catholic?

Jordan Peterson doesn’t shy away to speak about his views and opinions – even if they may sound controversial to most people. However, when it comes to his religious beliefs, the psychologist doesn’t confine himself in a box.

People have claimed Jordan as a Taoist (having dual beliefs) or a Pelagian (humans can save existence saved by their own hands). On the other hand, Peterson has never been specific about his faith. 

Jordan Peterson is neither Muslim nor catholic as of today. In fact, Jordan Peterson’s religion inclined towards atheism for most years.

In 2017, when the author was questioned if he was Christian, he replied with a “Yes”. But, the answer to if he believed in God was “No”. Hence, his belief in God cannot be simply explained.

Talking about god in an interview, he emotionally said “The problem is I probably believe that but I’m amazed at my own belief, and I don’t understand it”. So, we do not want to label him anything. 

Jordan Peterson’s Undeniable Faith Over God

In recent years, athiesm-leaning Jordan Peterson has been vocal about his faith in god.

Since 2016, the former Tronoto lecturer has been battling a severe autoimmune disease. In 2019, he was put into a coma for 8 days after catching pneumonia while in the treatment process. Furthermore, his wife, Tammy Roberts, was also diagnosed with cancer at some time.

This all has led Jordan and his family to put trust in divine forces for some miracle.

In an interview, Peterson said, “I act as if God exists, and I’m terrified that he might.” He further added, ” What you have in the figure of Christ is an actual person who actually lived plus a myth, and, in some sense, Christ is the union of those two things.”

Meanwhile, Peterson describes Tammy as being overtly religious since her diagnosis. The family now graces prior to every meal.

Jordan Peterson has his ethnicity rooted in Norway. Apparently, his great-grandfather was Norwegian. 

Likewise, Jordan Peterson was raised by his parents, Walter and Beverley Peterson, as mild Christians. However, he reportedly rejected Chirstany when he was young.

Peterson believed that religion was at odds with Darwin’s theory. As a rebellious teenager, he even went as far as to claim religious people as “ignorant, weak and superstitious”. Nevertheless, his family did not have a huge response to his changes in faith.

He has long-left his rebel-religion years. In fact, he is more respectful of people’s beliefs now. In his book, Beyond Order, he posits God as a fictional hero who helps us to navigate the chaos.
