Gret Glyer, 32, was shot to death, and Joshua Daniel Danehower, 33, of Arlington, Virginia, has been detained and charged with second-degree murder and using a handgun during the commission of a felony.
A captain from the City of Fairfax Police Department said during a news conference on Wednesday morning that Danehower is a friend of the family. If he had a lawyer, that was not immediately apparent.
According to authorities, Glyer was shot while sleeping in his bed. Police radio communications state that his wife and kids were present.

After being followed by police from Arlington to the airport, Joshua Danehower, 33, was apprehended Tuesday night at Dulles International Airport.
Danehower was mentioned as a potential suspect by detectives after being the subject of interviews, according to the police. No details on a potential reason were immediately made public.

When they arrived at his residence in the 9800 block of Bolton Village Court at around 3 a.m. on Friday, police say they discovered 32-year-old Glyer dead from gunshot wounds.
According to police, Glyer’s wife reported the shooting by calling 911. Police radio audio captured what a dispatcher said: She thought her spouse had been shot after hearing a loud noise. She thinks someone entered the home.
Although Glyer’s two young children were present at the time, according to the police, they were unharmed.
Police said they located a rear door to the residence that was open but did not provide an answer whether there were any signs of forced entry or firearms collected at the site.
