Lauren Stivrins Dad Alex And Grandparents: Meet Her Boyfriend

Lauren Stivrins was born in Scottsdale, Arizona. She has been involved in sports from a young age and received many awards.

Stivrins attended the Chaparral school. She got the opportunity to join Nebraska’s Volleyball roster, where she also majors in Communication Studies. The young female athlete has taken both her education and sports career simultaneously.

The volleyball star was raised alongside her younger sister and brother, who are also athletes in their own right.

Lauren Stivrins is the daughter of Alex, and Claire Stivrins, who are very proud of her achievements. She is of mixed ethnicity, with her father being Latvian-American, and her mother being English.

Her father, Alex, was a member of Lincoln East’s 1978 Class A state championship basketball team and a former player at Creighton and Colorado. He was a tall forward who was 6’8″ (203 cm) and 220 lb (100 kg).

Alex Stivrins, a 1980 Lincoln East High School graduate, coached East to three state basketball tournament appearances. He won the state title in 1978, qualified for the state tournament in 1979, and finished second in 1980 in Class A, the highest high school competition in Nebraska. His junior and senior years saw him selected twice for Super State and All-Nebraska teams.

Lauren’s father and mother met in the Canary Islands. They fell in love and eventually married, and Lauren arrived in their lives.

From 1980 through 1985, Lauren Stivrins’ father, Alex, participated in undergraduate athletics at Creighton University and the University of Colorado. In the NBA, he continued his career.

In the fourth round of the 1985 NBA Draft, he was taken by the Seattle SuperSonics with the 75th overall choice. He has also played with the Atlanta Hawks, LA Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, and Seattle Sonics.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Alex is currently working Investment Specialist for the Pacific Advisors. He is also a licensed financial advisor who graduated with a bachelor’s in science from the University of Colorado Boulder.

To escape the second Soviet occupation of Latvia following World War II, Alex’s father, the ophthalmologist Dr. Kazimirs Stivri (1921–2008), a native of Izvalta in Latgale, escaped to the United States.

Thus, Stivrins is the first ethnic Latvian (and Latgalian) player in the NBA. He competed in a match against Gundars Vitra, the league’s first-ever Latvian-born player, in 1992.

Lauren Stivrins’ mother, Claire Stivrin, is English by nationality. She met her future husband in the Canary Islands.

Claire is believed to be working as a Public Relations Director. She currently works at the Stivaz.

Claire resides in Arizona with her family and likes to stay away from the limelight. Nevertheless, we sometimes see the proud mother in some of Lauren’s and Amber’s Instagram pictures.

Lauren Stivrins has a sister named Amber Stivrins, who currently plays as an Outside Hitter for the Univerity of Georgia team.

As a freshman, Amber participated on the varsity team. Her 15s Club GJNC won the Open and was named MVP of both the Triple Crown in Salt Lake City and the 15 Open in Colorado.

According to age, Amber is 21 years old. She has three years of age gap from Lauren. Similarly, She stands 6 feet 2 inches tall.

Meanwhile, Lauren and Amber’s brother Lucas, born on January 9, 2011,  played basketball in Nevada. He is currently majoring in Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia. 

Lauren Stivrins’ grandparents, especially her grandmom, Opal Stivrins, have greatly influenced her volleyball career. She considers her grandma as her biggest motivation.

Opal played basketball during her college days, and she is considered one of the stars of the Nebraska volleyball team. She still has those tickets, and over the past few years, she has enjoyed seeing her granddaughter play for the team and become one of its stars.

She often comes to see her granddaughter’s game and tries to motivate her in sports.

At present, Opal is 83 years old. She resides in Lincoln and has had season tickets for Nebraska matches since the 1990s.

Unfortunately, Lauren’s grandfather, Dr. Kazimirs Stivrins, could not see his granddaughter play volleyball. He passed away at the age of 87 years old in the year 2008. 

Dr. Kazimirs was a native of Izvalta in Latgale, Latvia. He had fled the second Soviet occupation of Latvia to the United States after the Second World War. 

Lauren Stivrins is single at the moment. Her Instagram photos do not hint at her current or past relations.

If we check out her Instagram handle, she has posted many pictures of her traveling with her friends. Similarly, she regularly posts about her volleyball games. Lauren goes by a verified handlename @laurenstivrins, and she has amassed 51.1 thousand followers.

Lauren Stivrins turned 24 years old in 2022. She was born in 1998 and recently celebrated her birthday on May 26.

According to astrology, she belongs to the Gemini, which matches her bubbly personality.

Stivrins, who plays as a middle blocker, stands 6 feet 4 inches tall. She inherited her considerable height from her father, Alex, a former basketball player who stood 6 feet 8 inches tall.

Similarly, Stivrins’ body weight is around 73kg (160lbs). She is quick and is capable of jumping very high.

Lauren Stivrins started her athlete career at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. At her school, she was ranked the Number 9 prospect in 2016 by PrepVolleyball.com and Number 3 middle blocker.

She trained with the USA Volleyball High-Performance development program and had given the Arizona all-state honorable mention.

Lauren was redshirted in her first year at Nebraska. She played as a freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior until 2021.

During her last year as a senior, she accounted for 92 career NCAA Tournament blocks and was the fourth-most in Husker history. The year she ended her career ranked fourth all-time at Nebraska in attack percentage (.378), fifth in blocks (563), and 13th all-time in kills (1,259).

Stivrins ultimately made her professional Volleyball debut in March 2022 with Athletes Unlimited.
