His father was his first coach and helped him build his skills from a very early age where his mother made sure he had the confidence to be a rising athlete.
The youngest Duggan has drawn inspiration from a variety of people along the road, including his parents, his older brother Sam, and former Kansas State standout Jake Waters, whom his father coached at nearby Saint Albert.
After getting married, Jim and Deb, struggled for ten years to conceive a child before adopting Sam and Megan two years later. Before long, they were expecting a child of their own.

When he was diagnosed with a positive COVID-19 in 2020, doctors found out he had an abnormality in heart and had to undergo heart procedure. His parents did not want him putting his life at rist and told him they only wanted what was best for him.

His father was a high school football coach for three decades and Max was one of the athletes his father coached during those time. His father is still one of his closest confidants. They provided support for Duggan as he navigated the quarterback competition.
To get the skills across to his son and the rest of the team, his father used an antiquated method of teaching. Duggan’s ability to receive that type of mentoring is a testament to the kind of young man he was.

Whereas his mother always told her son to be humble and happy in every circumstance, never let his fame and fortune get to his head, and taught him to be self-assured and humble.
When Max Duggan and his family enter a college football facility, coaches frequently do a double take since they all recognize Jim and Deb and are shocked to learn that he is their son.
Max Duggan Father Jim Duggan Was A High School Coach For Three Decades
Max Duggan learned football from his father, Jim Duggan. His father had been a college quarterback at South Dakota and successful high school coach.
Jim, his father, played high school football in the ‘70s and played collegiate football in the early ‘80s. Max was taught with tough love philosophy by his father as Jim did not want anyone to think he was easy on Max because he was his son.
Jim gave him ideas for his gaming strategies and abilities. Max took to new height as Jim taught him everything he knew about sports.
When Jim’s team had the best season-long performance in 2007, the Omaha World-Herald also named him the Western Iowa Coach of the Year.

When Max’s heart condition was revealed, his parents were informed that Max had been undergoing routine team health checks as he got ready for the 2020 season when the problem was found.
According to Jim Duggan, the disease is not related to Covid, and was speaking about his son being detected with a heart anomaly while he was going through team protocol where he had an EKG.”

Max Duggan was born into a family of athletes. He has two siblings, adopted by his parents long before he was born.
His father Jim, mother Deb, older brother Sam, and sister Megan, who were both adopted from South Korea before they turned one, frequently join him in his games.
Jim always tells people Max is the one who is adopted when the entire family travels somewhere where people aren’t expecting to see two Koreans, which confuses some of the college coaches.

He also finds motivation in his brother, who has always been his biggest supporter, never misses any of his games, and is always there to lift him up when things are tough.
Although they are not related by blood, the three siblings are very close and Max makes sure they all attend events together. Max is the funniest one among the three and is always making everyone smile.
