When AJ Colby was 16 years old, he had the incredible opportunity to start his career as a television weathercaster at WSEE-TV, the local CBS affiliate in Erie, Pennsylvania. At age 19, AJ was hired by WJW Television.
In the spring of 2000, AJ began working full-time as a staff meteorologist at WJW Fox 8 in Cleveland.

After 22 years on the job, American meteorologist AJ Colby has decided to leave Fox8. His last day at the weather center was on June 2, 2022.
Although no definitive information about where he is going has been released, his coworkers have wished him well in his next chapter.
This is not the first time he has gone off the air; however, it is the first time he will not return after a lengthy absence. After dropping off the radar in late 2018, he reappeared five months later.

Colby spoke about his mysterious extended absence in his first television appearance in May 2019.
The initial reason, he explained, was minor carpal tunnel surgery on his hand. However, complications from the procedure forced him to sit out for an extended period of time.
The surgery brought back the depression and anxiety he had been dealing with since sixth grade.

It is unknown whether AJ Colby is married or has a wife. Aside from reporting local temperatures and snowfall data, Colby does not reveal much about his personal life on television or away from the camera.

Where Is AJ Colby From?
AJ Colby is from the legendary Snowbelt in northeastern Ohio.
He had aspired to be a meteorologist since he was ten years old when he witnessed the devastation wrought by an EF5 tornado in Albion, Pennsylvania in May 1985.
As a result of this experience, he developed a lifelong fascination with, passion for, and respect for the weather.

Colby graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in “Arts and Sciences.” Fox 8’s Meteorologist André Bernier served as his mentor throughout his high school and college years, as well as beyond.
André Bernier guided AJ’s college studies toward the classes and experiences he needed to learn about the atmosphere and forecast severe weather.
