Renee Wickliffe and her partner Portia Woodman are planning their wedding and have not married yet.

They got engaged in January 2021 and are both New Zealand rugby players. 

Wickliffe, a born rugby talent, was a star of the 2014 Women’s Rugby World Cup for the New Zealand national women’s team, also goes by Bl*ck Ferns.

She played beside her partner Woodman and led the nation to the competition’s knockout round; however, she could not advance the team to the semi-final playoffs.

In 2013, Woodman made her first appearance for the ‘Black Ferns’ during their match against England. She played a vital role in the side that triumphed in Russia’s Rugby World Cup Sevens competition in 2013.

Meanwhile, Renee was only 22 years old when she got her first International call in 2009. So far, the wing has played in 43 competitive matches and has grabbed 105 points for the Ferns.

Wickliffe, a rugby union player for New Zealand who is 35 years old and is married to Portia, who is also a rugby union player, contributed to New Zealand’s remarkable win over England in the 2021 Rugby World Cup final.

Although Woodman had to storm off the field midway through the game due to an injury, her Ferns’ teammates, including her partner Wickliffe were able to hold England’s stubborn attack and led the team to the sixth World Cup trophy and the first after 2017.

Portia, 31, was visibly gutted after she sustained the injury and could not continue the game. However, she somehow managed to join her teammates for their grand celebration after the win on November 12. 

After the Ferns’ 34-31 victory over Red Roses, clinched with a lineout theft after the hooter, Woodman was allowed to go up on stage to receive her winner’s medal and join in the celebrations.

The 2015 World Rugby Women’s Sevens Player of the Year, Portia, was escorted by her soulmate Renee Wickliffe following the injury. Woodman penned a picture of her smiling with the winner’s medal on her Instagram,

Portia and Renee got engaged in January 2021. Although it has been a while since they have been planning their wedding, they have not quite gotten around to stopping by the church to speak their vows.

After they posted a picture of them at a friend’s wedding on January 12, 2019, their fans commented on them to start planning their own. Two years later, Portia asked Renee to be her wife, and she said yes. 

Wickliffe was only 22 when she was called for her New Zealand national rugby team’s squad in 2009. After nearly 13 years of service in the national team, the 35-year-old decided to hang her boots after the World Cup final win against England last night.

She was selected to be in the Ferns squad for the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2014, followed by the Women’s Rugby Super Series in Canada in 2015, and was also named to the Ferns team that competed in the Rugby World Cup in 2017.

Moreover, Wickliffe was a key of the 2019 squad that triumphed in the Super Series, and she bagged three of the team’s five goals in the series-clinching match against England.

On July 12, Wickliffe posted a cheerful video dedicated to her wife Woodman on her birthday, where she wrote, “Happy Birthday, wifey.”. She thanked her for always having her back, loving her, and lifting her spirits whenever she felt low.

The couple went on to win the Rugby World Cup together after having doubts about either of them playing a month ago because of an injury. Wickliffe announced her retirement shortly after the final while they were celebrating.

“Absolutely GOAT, you’ll def go down in the history books, my sis.,” an Instagram user wrote a comment on one of her recent pictures.
